ZooFari Set Friday Remember the Tulsa Zoo Friends’ ZooFari is Friday. The family-style event is patterned after Waltz on the Wild Side, and offers the younger set a chance to enjoy the zoo in a wildly fun evening of animals, food and entertainment. Many area restaurants will set up stations and serve specialties from their menus. Entertainment will be provided by professional puppeteer Manda Pie and magician Bradini, as well as clowns, jugglers and balloon artists. ZooFari chairman is Suzanne Kallay. Johnna Bachle is the Zoo Friends’ special events coordinator. They said ZooFari activities also will include a walk with an Aldabra tortoise, up-close visits with animals handled by zoo docents, and a sea lion presentation. Visitors will be able to decorate a picture frame or ice cream cone magnet to take home, build an igloo with sugar cubes or take a walk through ZooMazing, the walk-through discovery maze. A silent auction also is planned. Items include framed animal prints courtesy of Charles Faudree, a painted animal pillow from Out on A Limb, a designed sculpted shadow box from Bright Star, and gift certificates from such stores as Superlatives. Suzanne said CPI/Fox Photo will be on hand to take photos of guests. Proceeds from ZooFari and the photos will go to habitat improvements for the zoo’s polar bears through the Polarcare ’94 campaign. ZooFari gates open at 6 p.m. Friday. Cost for Tulsa Zoo Friends members is $15 for adults and $10 for children ages 3-13; non-members reservations are $20 for adults and $15 for children. Children 2 and under enter at no charge. Reservations will be held at the zoo’s front gate. For more information or to make reservations, call the Tulsa Zoo Friends office at 669-6606.
